The Tutu Revisited Bootlegs are back!

US: iTunes, Amazon CD, Amazon MP3
Canada: iTunes, Amazon CD

Here are the Nextbop bootlegs from [Marcus Miller]'s Tutu Revisited concert in MTL, featuring [Christian Scott] subbing for Miles Davis.

The quality sucks, but the band was ON FIRE that night. Make sure to check out #7 (beautiful rendition of Duke Ellington's "In a Sentimental Mood" w/ Marcus on Bass Clarinet) and #8 (SiCK trumpet solo by my man CS).

Peace out,
seb.

We welcome the legendary Marcus Miller to Nextbop!!!!

US: iTunes, Amazon CD, Amazon MP3
Canada: iTunes, Amazon CD

[Listen to Marcus Miller in the Nextplayer]

“Marcus is so hip and into the music that he even walks in tempo.” - Miles Davis

For once, I'm genuinely speechless. It is an unbelievable (I should say unbearable) honor to welcome [Marcus Miller] to Nextbop. The dude was hand-picked by Miles "Fucking" Davis to be one of the torchbearers of this art. Never would I have thought that Nextbop would be getting props from someone like him, when we first conceived this project over 3 years ago.

How to Not Play for Pittance: My Twitter Comment Section

Yesterday, [my Twitter feed] was all in a tizzy in response to my latest post. I probably received more response to that post than to anything I’ve ever written. Seb is currently working on getting the comments boxes up and running but I wanted to get some of the responses on Twitter I’ve gotten up on the site. While the ideas I presented may not be the answer for putting jazz back in the limelight for every artist in the field, they did spark discourse we truly need. Many of you have given me a lot of context that is good for me and sharing that with all of you could help us all come up with new ideas with how to move forward.

As a man who loves a great deal of music, I spend some times going to shows of other genres. While I still hold that jazz is my first love and I generally enjoy jazz concerts more than other shows, there’s a certain energy in live music that I try to grab whenever I’m able.
