Thomas Enhco, born in Paris, France, on September 29th 1988, starts playing the violin and piano at an early age, and studies classical music and jazz in both instruments. He starts composing at six, and gives his first concerts with a band made up of young children. At the age of nine he is invited by Didier Lockwood to participate with him in the Antibes Juan-les-Pins Jazz Festival. At ten years old he plays the role of a young violinist in the film directed by Otar Iosseliani, Adieu, Plancher des Vaches.
At twelve, Thomas enters the Centre des Musiques Didier Lockwood, where he is spotted by the drummer Peter Erskine who offers to participate in Thomas Enhco’s first CD. He is then accepted at the Paris Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et Danse. Aged fourteen, he forms his own group, Thomas Enhco & Co, with his brother David Enhco (trumpet) and his friends Joachim Govin (bass) and Nicolas Charlier (drums).
In 2004-2005, Thomas composes and records his first album, Esquisse, whitch is released in 2006 (label Ames, distrib. Harmonia Mundi). He reaches the finals in the Defense National Jazz Competition in 2005 and receives the Young Talent Price at the Montauban Jazz Festival in 2006.
Since then, he is sponsored by the “Fonds d’Action Sacem”. Thomas Enhco has played in numerous concerts in France and Internationally with Thomas Enhco & Co, in duo, trio and solo formations. He has played with some of the greatest musicians (Christian McBride, Toots Thielemans, Maxim Vengerov...) In 2008, for seven months and over 130 representations, he plays in the musical show Le Jazz et la Diva Opus II at the Gaîté-Montparnasse Theater in Paris, directed by Alain Sachs. He has recorded film music scores for La Reine Soleil (2007), Le Sanglot des Anges (2008) and Terre de Lumière (2008), as well as Romane‘s record Père et Fils (2007), Didier Lockwood’s album For Stéphane (2008) and the recording of the show Le Jazz et la Diva Opus ll (2008). In 2009, Thomas Enhco joins the new group Didier Lockwood and The Jazz Angels. He forms a duo with the young percussionist Vassilena Serafimova with a repertory of music for piano and marimba from classical and jazz through the tango to originals. He has just recorded his second album as a leader, Someday My Prince Will Come, which is being released by the Japanese label Blue in Green in July 2009.
