Pianist Benny Lackner is set to release his fifth album Siskiyou February 13th on Swiss label Unit Records. For this project, Lackner on piano, wurlitzer and effects teamed up with Matthieu Chazarenc on drums and Jerome Regard on electric bass, upright bass and effects. Aside from the closing track which as a little more vigor to it, Lackner remains calm, cool, and collected at all times, preferring poise over flamboyance. The music is deeply contemplative, at times melancholic and dark and at times dreamy and mellow. Incontestably ambient jazz, fit for a rainy day, Siskiyou provides a thoroughly enjoyable listen if you’re in the right mood. Check out the EPK below the jump.
